Upcoming Classes

We have up to 6 seats per class, and a 2 student minimum for a class to run.

Pre-payment is required to hold your spot.  For classes that occur spanning noontime, don't forget to bring lunch. We have a fridge and microwave you are welcome to share!

THINGS to NOTE: 

~Prices below are for classes and lessons only and do not include supplies, or materials.

~Each student should come prepared with their own cutting tools (scissors & rotary cutter) as these are not provided.

~We do offer a sewing supply kit ($99 + tax),  & beginning quilting kit ($49 + tax.).

~Working knowledge of YOUR sewing machine is a must; please be familiar with successfully threading and making a bobbin on your machine; If you aren't we offer a lesson on this task.

~Your sewing machine must be in good working order; we offer servicing and repair of sewing machines. if you need an assessment please plan two weeks before class starts.

~Each student must have their own machine.

Opening Sewing

$2.50 hr

To help finish your holiday sewing, we will be offering FREE open sewing for the following weekend days in December: 7, 8, 15, 21, 22. Please do sign up and plan ahead as spaces are limited. 

If you’re looking for a relaxing and fun-filled space to sew or quilt, come and enjoy our spacious Quilting/Sewing Room!! We offer cutting stations with rulers, ironing stations, excellent lighting for those all-day sewing and crafting marathons.  Bring your own supplies, and machine.  

 

We do have Machine rentals -$15 for each session (does not include thread or sewing instruction).

Cut Loose Press Tutorials

November 16, 2019

On the 3rd Saturday of each month @ 2:00 pm, we host a 1 hour tutorial featuring Cut Loose Press™ patterns. 

 

These patterns are unique and affordable patterns, with sewing and quilting projects for beginners, as well as the more confident sewist. Cut Loose Press™ patterns are a great way to learn something new...but why navigate this on your own?  During each tutorial, SLS shop staff help to demystify techniques, tools and provide tips. This is also a great way to meet our staff!!  In addition, we feature all of that month's tool(s) uses, so that you can better decide if it's a worthwhile addition to your toolbox.  Each tutorial we will preview the next month's project.

                 Class Pass holders will recieve the demoed pattern for free, and get 10% off any Cut Loose Press featured products and patterns. Similar to a gym class pass, Class Pass holders can pick any five tutorials that interest them.

Learn to Thread Your Sewing Machine

This lesson will focus on successfully threading and making a bobbin on your sewing machine. We will also go over some of the core features on your sewing machine.

This introduction to quilting is a series of 8 two hour lessons. There is also minimal homework. This series of lessons also comes with a 30-page illustrated Student's Handbook with complete directions for each class. 

 

Our lessons will take you through the whole process of quilting from start to finish, and by the end you will have a finished baby or lap size quilt (your choice).  

 

You will learn:

  • Quilt terminology and quilt math

  • How to select fabrics

  • How to measure and cut your fabric with confidence.

  • Set and sew that prefect quarter inch seam

  • Nesting of seams

  • Pressing vs ironing

  • How to make the “Quilt Sandwich”

  • How to quilt your quilt

  • How to bind and label your quilt

Holly Berry Star Christmas Tree Skirt

November 17, 2019

The Holly Berry Star pattern floats stars in two sizes across the tree skirt. The contrasting edge sets off the interior star design. The skirt is split on a large star to easily position under the Christmas tree. The opening is large enough to fit most tree stands. The finished size is 50 inches across at the widest points on the outside edge. The inside opening is 10 inches across.  

 

Pre-Class WORK:  Before coming to class, please make sure to pre-cut all of the fabric pattern pieces.  Don't forget to label the pieces with the size(s) you cut them.  Doing the cutting at home beforehand, will give us time to focus on sewing.

Basic Sewing for Adults : PART TWO is a series of four 2 hour lessons. Classes start on Wednesday  Jan. 8, 2020 @ 5:30pm - 7:30pm

We will walk and work through all the steps to create a wrap dress.  In our first lesson,  we will review pattern reading, fabric, notion, and interfacing.  We will then draw upon the skills we covered in basic sewing part one to create a wrap dress together.

Advanced Beginning Quilting by Machine

This series of classes will help you to build on your skills learned in our Beginning Quilting by Machine classes.

Classes start on Sunday February @ 10:00. 

 

You will be introduced to 5 basic quilt blocks and their construction techniques.  We'll use these blocks to make Doug Leko's Silver Lane Sampler quilt (63"x 83"). These additional lessons will empower you to try more sophisticated projects.  This class is designed to build on the techniques taught in our beginning class, and it’s suitable for anyone who has taken a begin to quilt class, is comfortable with a rotary cutter and a 1/4” seam.

Lavender Fields Quilt Class

T-Shirt Quilt Class

Gather all your beloved tees from your favorite concerts, events, vacations and school days. and create a beautiful memory quilt! In this 2-class series, you'll learn how to work knit tees into a design and make knits and wovens play nice together. In the first class we will cover concept, measuring, cutting and tee shirt preparation. The second class will cover piecing, ironing and completing your quilt top.

Prerequisite: Students must be at least 13 years old, and must have taken the Beginner Quilting Series or have the equivalent quilting experience.

Fees are due for classes and events when you register. This will hold your space. You may register over the phone, in person at the shop, or by e-mail, using a credit card, cash or check. 

Cancellation Policy:

Be sure to read through the Registration Policy above.

 

You will receive store credit if we cancel your class or event. You must notify us 7 days before the scheduled class or event, to receive a store credit towards another class or event of equal value. No refund or credit will be given if cancellation occurs less than 7 days before the scheduled class. No class or event materials will be provided if cancellation occurs less than 7 days before class/event. Make up classes due to weather (or our need to reschedule a class) will be arranged. “No Shows” will not receive a make-up class, any materials given out during class or a refund or credit toward another class/event.
